The unaired pilot with Robin Stewart - does it exist?
« on: September 02, 2019, 03:27:13 PM »
In "Follyfoot Remembered" there is an interview with Gillian Blake who specifically states that TWO episodes were filmed with Robin Stewart - the pilot plus one other episode - before they decided to replace him and redo them. My question is - do these episodes still exist in any form and is there any way that we could get to see them?

From what I remember I don't think those pilots exist anymore, I think they were deleted  >48<

I could be wrong though  :)

Wouldn't it be great to see them if they did  >49<

I think you're right Jane - sadly they were removed.   :)

I suspect they may have used what they could and reshot the scenes with Steve.

That wou;d make the most sense. They would not want to entirely reshoot the whole episode when Steve was only in a handful of scenes. Which begs the question, are there any continuity errors evident between what may have been the original footage, and the new footage with Steve?  :o

After all this time. Explains why I have Robin Stewart on the cover of my copy of that first Follyfoot novel.

Would be fascinating if those two episodes did exist.

Why was Robin replaced?

Why was Robin replaced?

I think the nice way of saying it would be “unreliability”.

Of course some of us might say the powers that be just realised how wonderful Steve would be and made the necessary adjustments.  :D :D

Robin was on the cover. I may still have the book in a distant corner. Was it Cobblers Dream?

No Kevvo, it was  “Follyfoot”, the first of the books Monica Dickens wrote in the 70’s when the series was made.
