Sad news, Thornhill Colliery has finally closed and will be demolished. Another Follyfoot location bites the dust  >47<

Rick said :-

"Well its finally happened, the closure of Thornhill Depot has now been finalized.

I'm just so glad that a few Follyfoot Folks got to see where "THE INNOCENTS" was filmed last summer before it disappears for good off the face of the Earth.

It would be nice if the developers would name the new streets on the housing estate after characters of Follyfoot. Dora Avenue, Slugger Close, Colonel Drive, Steve Parade and Ron Crescent but I rather doubt it will happen. As soon as the demolition starts I'll try to get some photo's."

It had to happen I suppose but, really, all these places can't ever die because we've always got them in our hearts (and on our dvds etc)  >5<

It's also sad because more history of the area has been wiped away. It's a pity the old winding house couldn't have been left up and utilised in some way.  >367< As we've said before, so glad we got to see it and we've got photos.  >41<

Unfortunately, the Follyfoot location 'cleansing' process continues. :(  What next?

Oh, how sad  :( :(

But seriously, if there has been mining underground they would have to fill in the earth or the estate could collapse. Will make it a very expensive estate.
Cheers,
Sabrina

Life goes on and things must change - not always for the best I grant you but some people would be glad to see the going of the mine I'm sure.  I hope the housing estate roads are named after the pit in some way.

Well things do change Loopy but certain things do not. Upper class and royalty property is always protected but never the dear things for the likes of the rest of us  >48<  >313<

Here's a few ideas for names for the housing estate.

Dora's Drive
Steve's Street
Ron's Road
Colonel's Close
Slugger's Square
Hazel's Highway
Callie's Court
Lightning Tree Lane

Must be loads more.   :)
