Have just read all this thread to date and am now more green than ever!  I must save up for the big celebration next year - you all obviously had a brilliant time and it's great to see how the locations have stood the test of time. Can't get over those posh stables... Copper would be green too (Copper... green... verdgris....geddit?)

;D    ;D

Yes, Sabrina, you must get your piggy out and fill it to the brim.... or win the lottery!   ;D

Yes nice pics Rob! To think that one of the blue barn doors was still there  :o
Did anybody sneak out of the place with it?   ;D  Did you find any new memorabilia?

The horses certainly had some royal time in THOSE lodgings!  :o Does anybody know when were the stables / the house originally built? Just to think how well it was already then planned for the horses...
Anne

Anne-I think the house was built during the mid- late 1700s by a respectable architect and stable designer, James Paine. The Middleton family owned it for a while, until they sold it on to a well known 19th centuary industrialist, Robert John Foster- whose present day owner is a direct descendant.

Rob and I had a closer look at the doors and Christian Saul (horse assistant on FF) said these were definately the blue doors- I seem to think that last time I visited, I couldnt find them  >48< They were being used as cattle barriers. I think we shod buy them off the estate and protect them-otherwise they may get destroyed/burnt one day  ::)

There was something else  ::) that thanks to Jane Royston (and hedge thinning by a farmer/estate) may be a real gem of a discovery!

That's a great thought, Pete. Maybe we should do just that.....either to preserve them as they are, or allow members to have a small piece as a momento.

i'm loving all these photos-perhaps they would accept a donation to charity for the barn door- after all in terms of actual monetary value they would not be worth much. it would be a shame to chop up for souvenirs but otherwise might be difficult to decide on a home for it

Yes it would be a shame to divide up the doors. But then again. I'd rather have a sliver and a few paint chips than to see it burned up.

The big party is sounding like it's going to be truly special. I just hope I can get the $$ together to make it before Obama takes it all away from me. I guess it's time to start building that secret safe in the basement. ;) ;)

We'll have to figure out some way to do a video link for those of us living on the other side of the Earth who might not be able to fill the piggy bank enough to make it.

Nice to see more and more pics appearing! No horseshoes or any other treasures around anymore under all the clutter I guess? Too long and too many treasure hunters...
