Good afternoon folks. I have just watched this programme again after more than forty years, and subsequently discovered your charming website when undertaking some further internet research. What a show!

Yep, it is a little easier to watch on the telly... Especially if you have stone age broadband like we have deep in the country. Oh well, price you pay and all that. >117<

Great to have you on board. >41<

Please does someone know whether the lightning tree folklore was actually invented with these stories or already established in popular culture?

Although it may not answer the question completely, the following extract from "Follyfoot Remembered" is worth noting:

"The lightening Tree was the idea of Tony Essex.  It would fill a space which, from the cameraman's point of view was featureless...The tree became a focal point for the series...

Your replies are much appreciated and settle any confusion on my part stemming from childhood. We were lucky enough to have our very own lightning tree back in those days. The little girl who lived next door once told me all about its magical properties. I imagine that she had just finished enjoying an especial episode of her favourite series!

Sounds like she was a bit of a dreamer too, like Dora   ;)
