I drove past there yesterday. It's a mess! From what I could briefly see behind the boards a big house is being built...

Have you tried the local Council's online planning applications?

I don't suppose the forge has the same emotional attachment to most people that it has to us.

Probably not.

I hate seeing lovely old places bulldozed.  :(

Hello all, sorry for this being a late post and one of the few I have posted this year but I have been very busy with my boss being on long term sick leave, but I went with a couple of mates on the motorbikes to Lincolnshire in July and one of the places we went to was to Harrogate and of course the  route I took was pass the forge and to my surprise the petrol pump has been restored and put back in place, sorry could not get any photos as we were only riding passed and I don't have a camera like Tony, so a bit of good news for a change, just now hope it does not get vandalised.

,,, just now hope it does not get vandalised.

That is good news Motormouse.  Seems a strange thing to do but I'm really pleased they have.   >108<  Is there a house there now or not?

Seems a strange thing to do..

I admit to having wondered about this for quite a while.

When the redevelopment of the site was first raised, I recall noting:

Interestingly, although the proposal is to demolish the forge building, the petrol pump is to be retained...

and couldn't understand why the petrol pump should subsequently have been removed.    >410<

After having seen the photograph of the boarded site - perhaps the petrol pump was just screened from view.  >48<

Yes, there is a house there now, I must admit I was concentrating on the petrol pump to take too much notice of the house, but of what I can remember it did look quite nice, but I was going passed at about 25 MPH, really need someone who lives in the area to take a photo.

Maybe one of our Yorkshire friends will take a little tip there.   ::)

 >322< Hello all, it's been a while but I do try to bob in from time to time, life is too busy for recreational stuff sadly, roll on the lottery win...haven't managed to take a photo yet but yes the petrol pump's back & so poshed up it's barely recognisable! The house is still clinging on for the time being...will get photographic evidence (within the next year or so...! ::))
