My hubby and I do the same.....   ::)

Found a pony book for  the other day and two Derek Tangye books.
Anyone liking cats (Sabrina/Rob?) or Cornwall (Loopy?) would love Derek Tangye's books.
They are quite old now (60's/70's/80's) but are delightful recalling his and his wife move from London to Minack on the coast of Cornwall, running a flower farm and living with a menagerie of animals.

Luckily my hubby and I both love books so we rummage through any book sales, charity shops etc looking for bargains.  We already have the Derek Tangye books Sue - they're wonderful.  The Minack Theatre is amazing (saw the Sound of Music there once, many years ago, in a storm!!).  It's literally hewn out of the cliff face - a fantastic achievement.

We also have all the Poldark novels by Winston Graham and I love Daphne Du Maurier - especially Jamaica Inn, which I am about to start reading.   ;)

Hi folks
I'll keep an eye out for the Derek Tangye books - they sound like my kind of thing  :).  In the same vein are Doreen Tovey's books about her life with her Siamese cats. Having owned a Siamese I know just where she's coming from  ;D (and where she's going... usually a loony bin with Siamese!) I got most of her books from eBay; there are only a couple I don't have and they are out of print and go for a bomb when they come up - hundreds of squids or dollars!
Daphne Du Maurier is also one of my favourites. Susan Hill wrote a sequel Mrs De Winter and more recently, Sally Beauman wrote Rebecca's Tale, which looks at thes story from three different viewpoints and was very enjoyable; a worthy successor.
Lately I've been getting in Phil Rickman's Merrily Watkins series, and re-reading MC Beaton's Hamish Macbeth series (currently have Death of a Celebrity to hand). eBay is excellent for these books; mostly from UK sellers for the Phil Rickman ones and often the US for the Beatons (Hamish Macbeth has achieved cult status over there).

I got this recently. I know it's not really follyfootish but I quite like the cover compared to that awful Stranger at Follyfoot one I got a few weeks back.

I also collect pony books and love looking at them. Unfortunately I am stuck with charity shops which are devoid of pony books.

There was a wonderful old bookshop in Chester which I used to go to, but that closed down earlier on this year :(

I know what you mean garej. I don't see many pony books in charity shops these days either.  :'(

I mainly buy them from ebay but I'd much rather be poking about in a charity or second hand bookshop.

So would I. There used to be a good second hand bookstall in one of our town's three markets, but it closed down a few years ago. The only second hand bookstall specialises in things like Barbara Cartland, Mills and Boon etc, which is not very good!

Even if you do find a pony book (rarity these days!) nearly all our charity shops put them in the adult section and price them accordingly. The children's section these days is solely reserved for really young children's books (pre-school and early readers) and annuals. So that means that half the time it is cheaper to buy books from ebay, even with factoring in the postage. Unless it is something that is less common or very rare, half the time I leave it.  But saying that, I havent found anything since January anyway (and it was something I had got).

A surprise Follyfind!! >5<

This afternoon my hubby was up in the loft (a brave feat in itself!!) where he discovered a box of childrens books, our daughters had outgrown.....
'look what I've found' he exclaimed and through the hatch handed down a....Follyfoot book. !!!
The Follyfoot Collection published by Deans in the 70's!!

I didn't even know it was there, and had completely forgotten I'd even got it!!!

I'm delighted, of course, an unexpected addition to the collection... >1<

A nice find Sue.

Would you like to convert the book into "Cash in the Attic"?

The cover looks in good condition, and if it's a first edition I can offer £30 for this book. :)
