Arthur English on Desert Island Discs
« on: June 29, 2013, 01:33:16 PM »
 ;)

Hello everyone - Barney here

I have just found an interview with Arthur English, which he did for Desert Island Discs and was broadcast on 7 May, 1983.

Follyfoot gets a mention around 0:37:55.  Possibly only available to UK listeners, so apologies to all our friends overseas.

Enjoy.  Best regards - Barney

What a great find Barney, As Loopy said, lovely to hear his voice.
I found the bit where he spoke of the Ghost very interesting, and the fact he was then doing Opera, Can just imagine him as Slugger, doing opera.  >117<   >12<

Really enjoyed listening to the programme, it was really interesting. Incidentally I learned from it that Arthur married his second wife two days after I married my late husband. >314<
Will you come back.?

It sounds really interesting! I'm trying to load it at the moment and I'm not sure whether I'll be allowed listen. The Beeb hasn't blocked me yet but it's taking ages to load.
Cheers,
Sabrina

For those that can't access it here is what Arthur said

I did lots of odd things on TV.....but then came Follyfoot which was the thing that started me into the acting side of it more, which was a children’s series, that was the Monica Dickens one. That really set me up into the acting side of it, as Slugger.

Thanks Jane. I waited half an hour but it still didn't load and play.
