Wish I could do that sort of thing. Pleased to hear ELO too, one of my favourite bands of that era. 
Actually, you
can do that sort of thing... Providing that is, you use a Windows computer. (Yeah I know, Macs are far superior but I ain't got one

) Hidden in the 'All Programs' menu, is something entitled 'Windows Movie Maker', which allows you to make videos of either films or pictures that are stored on your computer's hard drive. Then you can add music to suit (once again providing it's already stored on your computer) The Movie Maker program is largely self explanatory and enables you to add titles and notes, adjust the time each picture is displayed, make fancy transitions between the pictures, and fade them in and out.
Give it a try by starting with a couple of your railway pictures, or those you have taken on your walks, add a suitable soundtrack, and you're away... it's as easy as that. Just remember at all times that, if it was hard, MZ couldn't do it.
