« on: May 18, 2012, 11:04:25 AM »
Hi - does anyone know who did it and where it is now..?

I can't imagine for a minute it was lost or destroyed...

Hi Mike s. welcome to the forum.

I don't know if that artwork survived or not, but if it turned up now I would like a print of it. :)

This could be another question for Jane Royston if no one else here knows the answer  :)

thanks folks:)

I was looking at some clips on youtube and the newer prints are much clearer and you can really see the delicacy of the painting

it would be fab to get it scanned and do some posters

I think its a really beautiful moment when the theme starts up and it cuts to the picture - I get a shiver when I think about it

Me too  :)  Welcome to the Forum Mike. A good question, perhaps Tamara knows something about the painting?

Hmmm.. A decent sized jpeg from a screen cap or two and some work in Photoshop should make it possible to re-create the painting-or at least pretty close.  Might be an interesting project to try...  As long as one credits it as a copy of the original and not one's own work that shouldn't create any issues.  Things work in the art world a bit differently than the literary world.   Artists have been copying other artists' works and techniques since cave man days.

We deliberately didn't use the picture on the 40th anniversary programme just in case - it wasn't worth the hassle.

I don't blame you .  In today's litigious society you can never be too careful.

Hi everyone

I agree I would have loved the original painting, all I can remember when Tony first showed it to me he said it was done by one of the scenery artists at YTV. When Ray and I went to YTV it was on the negatives and we did have to have the copyright for the book,  Sadly I doubt if the original exists or if it does the artist has got it.

It was interesting at YTV because the foal was also on its own on a negative and also the name Follyfoot,I think this was because they did an advertising leaflet which I am lucky to have and on the front is the word Follyfoot and on the back the foal.

I am sorry I know this information is not much help

This is a bit risky I know, but use the picture and see who screems about copywrite, then you will know who has the picture. Barry.
