Well Johno it looks like the same place to me, the small bridge looks exactly the same, they have rebuilt the wall by the bridge recently by the picture on Google maps, well that is still 100% success rate for every question that I have put to the forum.

I found the yard in Otley that is seen at the beginning of 'Poor Bald Head'. Here it is in the show:

... and here it is today, looking much the same!

Unfortunately I didn't have time to check out the Pack Horse Bridge - perhaps another day?

People who don't like cats were probably mice in an earlier life.

Motormouse,

This one from poor bald is on Westgate, Beech hill.

Its close to the town centre, the entrance to the yard has a sign above, W. G Milligan & son

On the same road heading out of Otley is a free car park just before the pub and Waitrose.

If you get to Otley try the Junction Inn pub for a beer or more

Unbelieveable  :o It has hardly altered ! :) Even some of the guttering remains original. I wonder if this site is protected by any modern changes  >48< This area presumably is occasionally used by film crews?

hi,

the ford looks very to similar to the one on Spear Fir between Wike lane and Blackmoor lane. it's not far from the blacksmiths on forge lane and very close to Hollin Hall. The barney episode was filmed in that area on Blackmoor lane.

its the only one I know of in the area.

it's on google earth

Hope this helps

Johno
Spear Fir - gosh that takes me back. When we lived in the area in the late 60s and early 70s, I remember my dad taking us that way and over the Spear Fir ford at Wike. That's where I first learned that the word "ford" was also a place where a stream crossed a road as well as being a make of car!

It does look like the Spear Fir crossing, though annoyingly the Google Streetview photos have a long gap either side of the ford so there isn't a close-up view of the bridge.

We lived in north east Leeds but at weekends we often went out towards the Harewood, Harrogate, Wetherby direction. Sadly Oakwood was too urban to be used for country locations and too gentrified to be used for the back-to-back terrace locations that Ron visited, so there are none of my old haunts in FF!

I've not watched any of FF yet - the DVDs were a present for my wife who remembers reading the books when she was a child but never saw the TV series. When I watch them I'll see if I recognise any locations.
