How incredibly frustrating!!  Still, at least you can say you were there. ;)

On my brief visit to Leeds last week I looked for the location of Blackett's Cafe where Steve looks for his Mum. This was filmed on Woodhouse Street in Leeds. When Steve crosses the street to the Cafe, you can see the spire of the Church of the Holy Name in the background. This has since been demolished. There's a photo of the church on the Leodis website:

Nowadays this area has been completely cleared and redeveloped:

I was passing along Kirkstall Road and couldn't resist stopping for another look at the site of Lilian Street, seen in 'Miss Him When He's Gone'. Looking up to the viaduct it's amazing to think that this area was once packed solid with back-to-back houses! (I know I posted a similar photo in November 2010, but the weather was much better this time!)

Here's a relic of the past - these cobbles behind the former Rising Sun pub (now a second hand furniture shop) were once part of Lilian Place, which ran between Lilian Street and Kirkstall Road. The houses must have been tiny!

Leeds Museum has an interesting display about back-to-back houses, with a reconstructed interior of what one would have looked like in days gone by:

I'm surprised those cobbles are still there!. I went into some back-to-backs in a museum a few years ago, think it might have been the Black Country museum  >48<

Very nice photos and interesting Rob. Great shame the church was demolished  :( Leeds slums certainly were comprehensively removed to make way for modern habitation although this somehow seems sad by the loss of valuable building heritage and past social culture  >48<

Now for some locations from "Miss Him When He's Gone".

Here's the Foley house in the very run-down Lilian Street:

There's a photo of Lilian Road, with number 20 in the foreground, at the Leodis site:

I presume they are looking in the other direction.
